The Hills are coming….
So I’m hoping you’ve heard by now that I’ve been appointed as your new incumbent, and I’m guessing that the question hot on everyone’s lips is, “So, what’s she really like?”… well let me tell you a little about myself, and my family!
I’m Laura, I’m a 43 year old self-confessed chocoholic and I’m married to Jason, we have 3 children, Josh, aged 20, Kieran, aged 19, and Emily, our youngest at 16 years. I was born in Stockport, Cheshire and brought up in Yorkshire. In my teens my family moved to Malvern and it was then I met Jason, a Kidderminster lad born and bred. Before ordination I had a working career in childcare, working in a variety of settings with young children, children with special needs and with teenagers with behaviour difficulties as well as nine years as a full-time parent. I love to read and have a passion for history.
Jason, 42, originally trained as a technician with Vauxhall and qualified as a Master Technician, and for the last 9 years has worked for David Dexter’s independent garage in Bridgnorth, latterly as their Technical Manager.
Our eldest son Josh has followed in his father’s footsteps in to the motor trade, and works as a technician at Audi Shrewsbury. Kieran has just embarked on basic training in the Army, and hopes to pursue a career as a military chef. Emily is about to take her GCSEs at Bridgnorth Endowed School, and has a place at Shrewsbury Sixth Form College to take her A-levels, she hopes to pursue a career in nursing or midwifery. Our family is made complete by our lovely BarneyDog, aged 10, he’s a black labrador/collie cross and very friendly!

From 1999 to 2012 we lived at Highley, near Bridgnorth, and I trained as a Reader, before undertaking ordination training at The Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education in Birmingham. I was ordained in Hereford in 2012, we moved to Bridgnorth and I’ve served a 4 year curacy in the team ministry there. The same passion that inspired me to train as a Reader still inspires me now… the desire to see young and old come to know faith in Jesus, He alone can transform us, our communities, our nation.
We’ll be moving to the Rectory in Dorrington in late June, and we’re very excited about get-ting to know you, the communities and our new home. Over the coming months please pray for:
- The house move
- Emily, as she takes her GCSE exams
- Kieran, as he undertakes his Army basic training
- Laura, saying goodbye to the churches in Bridgnorth and preparing to minister in the
- Steeplewood Fold.
